Hit The Wall

Yeah the title says it, I've hit a wall, a big fucking huge ass of a wall, so I took the past couple of days off and lets say enjoyed myself a bit much, booze and food ahh was great, the scale has moved just not in the proper direction, I'm getting back on the wagon in the morning, back to the gym and back to the pool. Nothing wrong with a small backslide...I'm rationalizing.. time to refocus on my goals.

WOOOHAH

Happy Holidays !

Update w/ pictures coming on December 21st as I'm a bit ashamed of myself at this point to take off the shirt!

3 Months 14 Days

One of the goals for the 6MC is skydiving to do this I need to be at 230. I'm currently at 259.

So I still have 29lbs to go with 3 months and 14 days to go. Thats about a pound every 3.5 days still a realistic challenge.

I'm going to adjust my calories and my workout. No plans for getting stuffed Tomarrow, just thinking a turkey sandwich and some stuffing. No booze.

A nice plus has been I've been working at the bar on Saturdays so I haven't been drinking my calories away one night a week.

Back from AWOL

Yeah yeah, I haven't been posting and I could give you some defining reasons behind it, but to be honest those are things that you don't need to know about, and I don't want to share.

On the 6MC I'm doing well, weight in today placed me at 258.

Still eating clean, and I've upped my cardio.

More to come.

So I posted my new stats below and haven't had a chance yet to open everything on the side, I've been working hard, and comparing from just before the begining of the challenge to now, I've added muscle and drop fat, which is a good thing, the bad thing is I'm trying to cut down in size, which I am from the numbers yet I need to get down to 230 to jump in March or should I say 4 months from tomorrow...

I'm going to start uping my cardio and cutting back on my lifting, if this is a bad idea let me know.

So here is where I'm at...Left is from today, the right is from the begining, I'm adding lean mass while I'm losing it...it's good but it's kinda hurting my goal of getting down to 230...

Burned a CE

So I burned another CE over the weekend, planned as it was I went a little overboard so maybe the proper would is TOURCHED A CE.

It's fine though back on the wagon and ready to go, for another week, I've been locked in at 264.5 lbs since Weds, and I haven't seen even a hint of the scale dropping so hopefull my cheat will rekick my system this week, if it doesn't then it's time to review my current plan and tweak my workouts.

The tale of the tape on the other hand is showing that I am cutting, well except my chest...

Time to continue to work harder!

New week, same plan, lets get it going!

Split Sleeping

So I'm still trying to get my sleeping pattern working for me, today I crashed at 3am woke up at 6am and decided to go workout(Ok my house was freezing because the propane isn't working and I figured it would be warmer after a couple of hours, and a good workout.)

The workout went well, and it seems to be getting easier so Fridays RT will be with increased weight, the swim was fine, and I've started to time my swims now for the rest of the week to make sure I am making progress and not just floating by(bad play on words). Swim distance will be increasing next week for endurance purposes.

I then returned home to a slightly warmer home and slept for another 4 hours ,woke up feeling good, and refreshed...

It's been misrable down here for the past couple of days, cold and wet, also it seems a cold is going around the office, so I'm stuck inside on the bike and treadmill, and it's driving me crazy. I feel like a hamster on a wheel, working hard but going nowhere. Hopefully the wet weather will turn soon so I can get back out on my bike/or even hit the track.

My weight average has dropped down to 264.5 which meens happy times I'm down 10.5 lbs in the past 24 days. 34.5 more lbs and I'm out to the drop zone for some skydiving.

A New Week

A new picture is up as you can see at the top of the page small changes, and bigger changes back from the first of the month, I'm kind of wishing I would have taken the picture the same way as the other two, but oh well...Measurements from last night made me think positive, and I'm feeling good, as parts of my body are starting to tighten up.(Well except my thighs...large fat deposits there and the belly...

We are going into the second week of the 6mc which is great, still humming along. My cheat got ruined or saved on Saturday when I ended up having to work after only one, which I then burned off after running my ass off behind/around the bar, oh well it happens...

Speaking of drinking...people find it odd when you don't drink at a bar...maybe it's just when I don't drink, (Just a note, I use to be a huge drinker I had a rough 6 months of 2007 which probably adds to it)I go into the bar Thursday/Friday/Saturday Nights... Thursdays/Fridays I go in to hang out with friends, as I work till Midnight and during the rest of the week I don't have the time to socialize, so over the past month I just drink water while I'm there.

Those who know me look at me funny and then ask why I'm drinking water like it's bad for me. I try to explain why, and have just settled in telling them I only drink on Saturdays, or that I'm working that night, and they normally back off, but here and there I get a regular that thinks I'm just being cheap who try to buy me a shot which I have to politely decline.

Either way the challenge continues, and hopefully the progress continues I feel a plateau coming on as it doesn't seem realistic to keep up the pace that I'm currently on, but I'll deal with that when it hits.

I'm on the verge of hitting the ten pounds mark from when I started this blog back at the beginning of the month :)

Ten Hut

So I just finished posting my update on 6MC on the menshealth board, and decided to explain a little more of my regiment.

I need structure when it comes to doing challenges, or training in general. I have an addictive personality(i've had fun) so when it comes down to training and eating I have to have set times because I'm also the type where I can fall of the wagon with great ease, but as long as I keep myself dedicated to something I'm good to go. Becoming healthy is my goal once I set a goal I normally reach it, so I'm going to do everything to stay on track, if I find myself wavering I fix it.(I quit drinking for 3 months during Tri Training last season)

I think another reason behind such regiment is that, I'm a creative person, if I have everything i need to do in a day laid out I don't have to wonder what I'm going to eat thats clean at my next meal or when am I going to squeeze in a workout, all this is figured out in advanced so I can focus on commercial ideas, bits for my show, and generally stupid pop culture stuff. I leave room for change, because even though I don't have the family to change things up on me, things do come up at work, so I keep a plan B, the only thing thats not regiment is my sleeping pattern, because needless to say I don't have a set time for it, my normal goal is before the sun comes up.

So other then that, I'm tired ready to crash early tonight when I get home. I'm doing great on the challenge, and I've been watching the scale drop down now to a steady 266.

Upcoming Updates:
Sunday: I'll be taking measurements for a bf% update/New Picture

Thats it for now.

Current Status

Good Evening from the Studio of G.

Another good day, although I did miss my swim, and I do meen I missed it, I love swimming and I don't even see it as working out, just something I enjoy doing, something refreshing, and I'm other then driving my car, it's something I'm fast at, I can almost meditate while doing it.(Very zen)

So I juts got my 5K walk/jog in I really need to start speeding up, as of now my time is pathetic although i do still have several months till Tri's start up again, I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

Speaking of progress, I had to buy a new pair of jeans, and I know jeans sizes have changed where a size 40 in one pair of jeans isn't the same in others, but I tried three different pairs on and was very pleased, for S&G's I picked up a 38 and if I would have enjoyed holding my breath I could have probably buttoned them...why am I telling you this, I haven't worn a 38 since I was in 6th grade.(I was a big ole boy)

So as soon as I break into the 38's I'm going to have jeans day, where I take my 46's and 44's and donate them to charity, well the ones they will take, I still have jeans from highschool I have worn to shreads.

So here's to the upcoming jeans day, hopefully less then a month away...maybe no real changes on the scale, as it teases me showing 266.5 for a half second then returns to 268...I think at some point I will be destroying it!

Tomarrow back to the gym/pool

That's it for tonight.

p.s. still perfect on my C.E.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN

Good evening, it's day 1 of the 6MC and it was a great start, the weather could have complimented the day better, but raining just drove me into the gym instead of the track.

I already have the 1/2 clean eats for the day, and I have the food with me here at work to finish up the second half. So day 1 of 180 is a perfect day for me, 2 cardio sessions(Morning/Post Workout) and one RT (weight lifting).

30 minutes of training on the cycle this morning, followed by a nice work out this afternoon, and 30 miuntes of laps in the pool and a relaxing 5 minutes in the hot tub.

Tomorrow is just cardio Morning 5K/Evening Swim as for the first 6 weeks I'm doing 3 total body work outs, each week. I might switch to splits then, just depends on what "el diablo" decided would be best.

In other news I killed my bucket of protein used the last of it for my shake, so I might have to suck it up and pay the extra at my health store, as I still have a couple of days till the new stuff comes in or I'm just going to ask a buddy to borrow 6 scoops worth.

Time to get back to work.

The Night Before

For those who have taken notice I've posted the "official" before picture, as I have a busy day lined up, so I will not be taking a picture. I've updated all my stats, as I've taken measurements (I had help so I wouldn't cheat) with tape.

I will be using these site to help me during my challenge.
http://www.fitday.com - To keep semi track of calories, but more for planning out meals.
http://www.mybodycomp.com - To keep track of bf% along with my scale.
http://www.Menshealth.com - For support, and to support those who are also going on this challenge with me.

So we are on the eve of the 6MC and as promised time to post:

Calories Needed to Maintain at 6'1/268lbs being moderately active -
3926 *DAMN*
To Lose 2lbs a week. 2926

Lunch 2:Shake (2 scoops Protein Powder/Berries/creatine/flax seed/ice/milk) Split before and after workout

Dinner 1: Chicken Breasts cut and wrapped with Spinach leafs/

Dinner 2: Almonds

This puts me in my target calories range, I'm a little shy on carbs, and a bit heavy on protein, but the fats fall into the target range. Also I'm not very good about modifying what I eat other then how I prepare it this will be the basic breakdown for awhile, it will be tweaked as the weight comes off and as I find items to tweak in it, it's an outline. I need to work on veggies but the ones I like are the ones that have no value what so ever. Breakfast will alternate, as I do enjoy cooking.

Updates

I'm at work...normally it's show time and I would be performing but tonight we are covering a Nascar Race, so I'm stuck board jockying until this race is over with..

This is my wonderful studio.

So I'm wondering around the building becaues airing a race is incredibly boring...and I ran into the twins...

The twins and I have had some good times in the past, and many times have provided what some would call dinner, although recently I broke up with them, yet there siren song still plays I've done well to avoide it which I'm proud of.

Went out to the bar last night when I got off work, and didn't even drink, I've already patted myself on my back, as I've decided to cut back on the booze, at it may slow down my weight loss and muscle growth.

I know I'm being lazy about the updates about my routine and my first week menu, but hey I've got other things to do, that and I misplaced my training sheet.
As for the new picture it will be up as soon as I figure out a nice consistant spot to set up my camera to take it.

On the plus side of things I weighed in at 268 today, yet its not official til I have 3 days in a row at that or lower. That places me at 5-7lbs lost since I started 3 weeks ago. (avg 2.5 per week)

Blah blah blah...got nothing else have a great weekend as it's the last before the 6MC.

Great Day

Grungir feel f**king great, just amazing, maybe even reborn....ok thats pushing it...

I had a great workout followed by laps in the pool and some relaxation in the whirlpool before heading to work, I feel like I'm high (endorphins I'm guessing) and to top it off I had a great show.

So the countdown continues until the beginning of the 6MC on Monday, then there's also the 52dc that I had my arm bent to join...ok I'm a competitive bastard, and two guys in my weight class did so(yes if my friends jumped off something I would to...I want to base jump eventually)

Friday:2x Cardio Workout- Bike/Swim Routine.
Saturday: Off Day
Sunday is food day, when I buy and prep my food for the week, and my swim routine.

Postseason/Preseason for Triathlons is here and with how the weather is turning here in the Ozarks I'll be doing more (shudder) inside workouts.

I'll be posting my measurements this weekend, and Monday will be the official "before" picture of the challenge.

I also know I owe this blog a workout regime and more it will be posted sooner or later.

That's it for now

I met the Devil!

Earlier today I was feeling good, sore and sweaty and could have really used a smoke...Nope The Big G didn't get himself a little afternoon somethin, something(That would have been nice, wonder if thats considered a cardio work out, something to ask) but instead met with devil himself, better referred to as "The Trainer".

So I met with my trainer today to set up the workouts/goals/and all the other things, he came with a workout all set up, and then we went through it, and it was something, something good, painful but in a good way, I learned a lot, and how I've cheated myself in the past with bad form, needless to say bad form was not acceptable nor will it be in the future. It's been over a year since I lifted actual weights and it was obvious today, I've got a lot of room for improvement which is nice, and sad at the same time.

I'll meet up with el diablo again in two weeks, as he is out of town next week.

The countdown continues...

Schedule for 10/10: 10am Wake Up
11am Cardio - Heading to the track
12pm - 4pm This and that (Gotta go to court and pay some tickets)
4pm Cardio: Swim
4:30 Shower/Pack Food For Work/Game Out
5:30 - 12am Work/Surf Internet /Read Paper/ (I've got a cake job)
12am Home to relax catch up on tv
2am-3am Crash For The Night

I'll post my lifting regime in the next couple of days, as well as my menu for the first week of the challenge!

7 Days

The challenge starts in seven days...This weekend was quasi good as I'm getting ready for the challenge, I'm looking forward to it.

As for how I was feeling Friday I chalk it up to the grease in the food, and after a day was feeling much better, so yeah for me...

I really don't have much to say other then in 6 months in 1 week I will have accomplished something great for myself, of course the competition is going to be fun, because competition makes me strive, in anything I've done. I meet with my buddy "The Trainer" tomarrow to set out the mission, goals, and the first phase of the workouts.

Wow is all I can say, goals will be finalized soon.

As for suppliments.

I'm ordered a container of ON 100% Protein, a multivitamin, creatine, flax seed, as well as some fish oil capsules.

The countdown continues

Ehhhh 9 and some change till

Welcome Welcome Welcome...

I feel like crap...I know why, I'm thinking food poison but I'm not sure, it started about 7 hours ago, when I had a "cheat" meal and now I'm paying the price for it...won't do that again for sure, had some Taco Bell, and either my system is rejecting fast food (could be been awhile since I had some) or it wasn't prepared correctly, because I'm feeling craptastic as an old roommate would say...

The story with the challenge coming up and the low number of "cheat days" and my travels this weekend I wasn't going to use my normal Saturday Night Whiskey Cheat so why not try something I saw on tv ...(Side note: I use to work at this Taco Bell and use to eat it for dinner almost every night, healthy eating at its best..............this was 4 years ago)

This has placed me in my current predicament of feeling like crap... I'm going back to eating clean again screw food cheat days, I'll stick to my Saturday Night Whiskey over this feeling...btw I feel like a tool that I can drink with the best, yet a damn hybrid burrito can knock me on my ass...woo for me im manly...So as I said won't make that mistake again...bring on the chicken breast,tuna...and Makers Mark

So much for buying my supplements locally checked out online prices and compared them today to what I've been paying... and my health store in towns markup is insane...only thing I'll be buying there will be almonds...

Counting Down...

So who's that sexy bowl of jello at the bottom of the page...oh yeah it's Grungir in the before - before pictures. Yeah that's it I'm posting before before pictures, when the 15th hit's I'll be posting the "official" before picture for the challenge, this is just something to get me "comfortable" with posting my shirtless self online, please stop breathing heavily it's kinda creeping me out.

I think this would be the best time to post my favorite quote from American Beauty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lester Burnham: I figured you guys might be able to give me some pointers. I need to shape up. Fast.

Jim Olmeyer: Are you just looking to lose weight, or do you want increased strength and flexibility as well?

Lester Burnham: I want to look good naked!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm a pretty confident/cocky person when dressed, but get me with out a shirt(unless I'm in the bedroom) I feel a little odd... So I think an unofficial goal is at the end of the 6 months is "To Look Good Naked" or atleast better....

So other updates:

Getting prepared for "The Challenge" I will be restocking my supplements this coming week and will post what I will be taking(The basics nothing crazy), and I meet with my trainer on Tuesday to work out some finer points of the first 6 weeks as he will be leaving for a convention in Vegas the first week of the event.

Hope everyone is getting ready!

Best Wishes

Goal Planning *Updated*

So I've got some time before the 6 month challenge starts, but I need to plan out my goals so that I know what I want to complete during this trial. I know one of my big goals is dropping down to 230 so that I can go skydiving in March.

So the goals...

1. Drop the required weight to go Skydiving on 3/8 - To accomplish this I need to drop an avg of just under 2lbs a week. This goal is 20 weeks into the event.

2. End the event at 225lbs (hell maybe even 224 so I can crash two of the other catagories)

3. Bodyfat, although I don't have calipers and it's not the best way of judging bodyfat, the scale I have has a bf calculator on it currently it reads 32.5 I would like to cut that down to 18%.

4. Workouts: I'm planning on 4 work outs a week 2 cardio and 2 weight lifting each week with 3 weeks off during the 6 months for rest. This is 84 work outs. (42 CT/42 RT)

5. Clean Eats I'm going for 330/364. *CHANGED* After reviewing, this goal was changed due to Holidays/Weekends/Lifestyle, I want a challenge but I want to be realistic at the same time.

That's it for now.
Grungir

The 6 Month Challenge

It's now early morning, just minutes past two am and as of four hours ago I have signed up to take part in the 6 Month Challenge. This site will be used to keep track of my progress as I compete against myself and others in my weight category over the next 6 months as there will be no losers as it is a personal challenge, a little competition never really hurt anyone. The competition starts up on the 15th of October so I have some prep time to lead up.

Later
